Taylor's Report

            The mission I chose to do was to serve food to the homeless veterans at the Veterans Village. Even though I’m nowhere near a chef I still wanted to be able to contribute in this act. So I decided to recreate my famous salad that I love to make. Even though I didn’t think it was much, the veterans sure did love it. When I first arrived being the person that I am I was shy and not eager to interact but that soon changed. I started to feel more comfortable just by their presence and by their kind spirits. They were all very polite and being very thankful to us for preparing the food. One of the moments there that stuck out to me the most was when one of the men was just walking around singing and in a very cheerful mood. This just reminded me that even if your situation isn’t the best you could be far worse.
One of the main reasons I chose this mission is because I feel as though our veterans don’t get enough recognition for their service that they did for our country. These people that were in the military fighting get looked over far too much. These people fought for use to have freedom in our country. For being as brave as they were, they should be commended and shown that they are appreciated.  I feel as though there should be a funding foundations that can help the homeless veterans drastically.
This experience humbled me just to see first hand that there are people in the world that aren’t as fortunate as you. It also opened my eyes and made me want to do even more for my community not just with the veterans but with others as well.
