For the past few days I have had the weather channel going in the background.
I can't take too much of it, the music gives me the creeps.
Everyone else seems very concerned, so I keep the weather channel on and -- as usual -- it shows radar and animations of 5 Day Forecasts and I am just sure that when things get real they will turn off the ting-ting-tingy music and start showing Jim Cantore and waves crashing into things and warn us to stay inside and hide from wind but run from water.
Until then, no worries. I fall into alternately cleaning and watching Raising Hope on Netflix. It's equal parts sweet and smart and horrible and I love it. There are only 4 seasons, so I'm careful to not binge too quickly - I might need these people to make me laugh later, in the big whatever is coming.
So I turned back to regular TV (which was muted and showing a "Golfing Weather Forecast" graphic) (PS: the forecast is no bueno), flipped through the channels and I stopped at one that said Live Coverage: Hurricane Irma, and stumbled upon .... the Weather Channel?
The Real Weather Channel, the one showing Jim Cantore and waves crashing into things and warn us to stay inside and hide from wind but run from water.
I had no idea.
This is bad, this is worse than ting-ting-tingy music of the (other) (fake) weather channel, so I mute it but I can't stop watching.
