“Help others and give something back. I guarantee you will
discover that while public service improves the lives and the world around you,
its greatest reward is the enrichment and new meaning it will bring your own
life.” - Arnold Schwarzenegger
For my
service project, I participated in the veteran village in which I brought 2
dozen of my favorite cupcakes (Vanilla) for the veterans. Not only did me and
my classmates bring dishes for the veterans, we also served the dishes to them
which I personally think is more important than just dropping the food off
because it shows the veterans that we really do care. Doing this service
project was really a life changing experience for me, seeing my classmates
myself included come together to give back was a beautiful experience. Going
into this assignment at first, I felt it would be just another assignment but I
was wrong, seeing the smiles that we brought to the veterans was something that
I will remember for the rest of my life. I’ve always felt that giving back was
very important but this project has shown me that giving back doesn’t mean just
giving money. Giving a lending hand or just your time can make a huge
difference.
My grandma is in the hospital and I
have to go see her so excuse how short this is BUT I do want to say that it was
an honor to have you as a professor Dr. Soldani, this class has opened my eyes
more to the world around me. Not only that but you were very entertaining and
always kept the class interesting, it felt more like a fun activity instead of
class. Most importantly, I want to thank you for setting up this service
project assignment it REALLY shows you care and I feel it is very important for
young people like myself to understand the importance of giving back because
personally that experience is something I will never forget seeing the smiles
we gave to others is something worth more than 1 million bucks. Thank you.
