Service Project: I did my service project because I have always liked to help people in need and I always thought it was a good thing to give instead of always trying to receive.

 (Student Essay Fall 2015)
“We need more kindness, more compassion, more joy, more laughter. I definitely want to contribute to that”. I did my service project because I have always liked to help people in need and I always thought it was a good thing to give instead of always trying to receive. With us doing this service project during Christmas time it really shows that we care about the people in need in our city. Not only will I do this service project for this class I think I want to go beyond that and help my girlfriend and her church feed the homeless in the park. Not every is going to have a nice Christmas some people don’t have the money to buy expensive clothes and game systems. They really don’t even have money to buy food to feed their families and that why I want to give back and help people in need. For my service project I decided to help some veterans in need buy going to Wal-Mart and buying some bed sheets for them and a couple of towels and a crock pot for them to cook in. The impact this service project has had on me is that not everyone is blessed to have what you have and that you should help in any way to try and uplift that person and get them where they need to be. The impact I hope it has on the community is that I hope people don’t just go out and buy nice things for themselves and family. And forget about all the people who are in need and could use some of the things we don’t need. We all know that our kids are going to play with those toys and forget about them because they know they’ll get new ones. When those toys can easily be given to a child in need whose parents couldn’t afford anything like that this holiday season. That also goes for food to while we sit around and stuff our faces we could be out giving away the leftover food that we didn’t eat. I’m really glad that we got to do this service project it has really put life into perspective that that could be anyone of us in that spot with food or a family during Christmas time.
