(Student Essay Fall 2015)
“We need more kindness, more compassion, more joy, and more laughter. I definitely want to contribute to that. - Ellen DeGeneres”
The holidays are almost here and not everybody is fortunate to spend it with their families and that motivated me to do for my service project adopt a veteran for Christmas.
Our veterans have sacrificed most of their lives for all of us so this was a really good opportunity to give them back just a little bit of what they have made for us. That’s why I decided to do this because it makes me happy to know that someone out there will get a gift from someone that do not know him/her but is thankful for his/her services. This project also make me realize how much I have and I don’t appreciate, sometimes we have everything and we do not realize how blessed we are until we see others and start thinking about what they have. A little piece of you, or a little sacrifice from you can change others life and that’s what life is about it, to make others happy with all that little and easy things in life. I hope my veteran enjoys his/her gift even thou is something little but I really hope that he/she can smile when he/she get it.
Maybe this issomething little, but it can mean something really big to them and that’s what makes me happy about this project because you never know how happy can you make others feel with just a little of you.
