"Help others and give something back. I
guarantee that you will discover that while public services improve the lives
and the world around you, its greatest reward is the enrichment and the new
meanings it will bring your own life." - Arnold Schwarzenegger. For one of
my service projects I brought a big tray of green beans to the veteran's
village, which was a fun event to give back. I had plenty of fun giving out
care packages to the veterans as they were walking out from getting their food.
Events like that should happen at least once a month because the experience for
me was a blast for my first time. I think it was a big impact on the people who
came out, and the veterans! Though it was for a service project grade for me I
didn’t see it as that I saw it as more. The men and the few women were funny
and making jokes, laughing and enjoying themselves, though most went back to
their rooms afterwards it was great to see the smiles on their faces glowing
up.
This event really didn’t connect to my major because my major is being a
pediatric nurse, working with kids. But, they have been kids once in their
lifetime so I guess it's somewhat kind of the same. Still my major is to help
kids and keep them in good health.
