I picked this quote due to the fact that It stuck out most
to me. I believe that this quote is true because when your gone the things that
people will remember most are what you did for them or for others and how that
made you/ them feel. I believe that everyone is the same and what sets us apart
is what we choose to do with out money and our time. It isn’t hard to help a
homeless man on the side of the road begging. All that needs to be done is to
give him a meal.
I was driving to get breakfast a few weeks ago when I decided
to go the opposite way I usually go and came across a homeless man begging for
food. My natural instinct was since I’m already going through the drive thru I
can order him a meal and give it to him when I leave. I did just so and when handing
it to him I saw his face light up with a smile. That meal only cost four
dollars to make his day and I'd do it again and again everyday if he was always
there.
The service project I did was the gifts for the veterans. I know towels,
blankets, and a gift card don’t seem like much but to them I know it will mean
a lot. I am honestly glad that this service project happened because I truly
know that it will make someone happy and as humans we are there to help one
another not matter the circumstances. This service project connects to my core
value and because I am a person that is giving towards others and love to see
the reactions of them. I think this will have a huge impact on someone else and
someone in the community.
I have heard a commercial on 94.9 about Kip Moore a
country singer who talks about how he is giving back to his community. He says
that anyone can help out one person (that it doesn’t seem big) but, that one
person can then help two and it becomes a trickle affect. I love hearing how
these famous people give back to communities and makes me wish that I was
famous, so I could help a lot but, I do know that anyone can help anyone and
that I can do good right here in my own town.
The thing is there are so many
people in the Tallahassee community that can be helped, and I know that these
fifty veterans will be good with the gifts. I enjoyed this project and hope so
other courses have something similar to it at TCC.
